Volunteer of the Year

Dani S4 was a finalist in the Nithsdale sports awards 2019 and was nominated for volunteer of the year.

Dani started as a gymnast in the Council classes. She progressed quickly through the development squad and then was accepted into the Solway gymnastics club, where she did very well. Unfortunately, she had to retire from gymnastics but has turned to helping out in the classes instead. She has used her own knowledge from being a gymnast to motivate the young gymnasts and encourage them to always do their best. She is always on time and fully committed to her coaching role. In April she went to Hamilton to attend a learn to coach course through Scottish gymnastics which also included safe in your hands child protection training. On top of her regular 2 hours/week volunteering she also assisted with DG1 summer camps this year. She was a great help, very enthusiastic, always smiling, and is a great role model for the gymnasts.
