Dumfries High School is holding a ‘Stepping up to Higher’ Evening on Thursday 3 October. This important evening for S5 pupils and their parents/carers is designed to help young people be successful in making the transition from National 5 study to Higher study in fifth year. Therefore, parents/carers of pupils who will be sitting SQA examinations next May are strongly encouraged to attend.
This is a new event designed specifically for all S5 pupils with a focus on study techniques, managing stress, attitude, turning intentions into actions and motivation to raise attainment. The intensity of study in S5 is very different to the requirements of S4 and as such, it is important that our learners are equipped to deal with what is ahead of them. Your support plays a vital role in their success.
Pupil in S5 will spend time on Thursday 3 and Friday 4 October working with staff from ‘Tree of Knowledge’ to help prepare them for study this year. In addition, there is a parent/carer session that we would like you to attend to work with us to support your child in their learning this year.
I am sure you will agree that this evening will play an important role in ensuring that we can all work together to allow our students to maximise their full potential. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday 3 October.
